Lina Gautam was born and brought up in Kathmandu, capital of Nepal. She came to England when she married her husband, Shiva Gautam. They moved to Ireland in the late 1990s to open Montys of Kathmandu, Dublin’s first Nepalese restaurant. Montys is located in the fashionable Temple Bar area of the capital where Lina gives regular Nepalese home cooking demonstrations. Lina and Shiva live in South County Dublin with their two children, Parth and Aditi.
Nepali Cuisine can be described as fusion between Indian and Chinese cuisine which reflects Nepalese culture and my country’s demographic diversity. Our food is focused on capturing a range of different flavours and aromas by blending spices like cumin, coriander, szechuan pepper, garlic and ginger. Nepali food is nutritious, simple, subtle in flavour, easy to cook, colourful, and most of all tempting and tasty to eat.
